OK, several days to be honest but that’s not as catchy a title. I wondered if you would like a peek at what I do, apart from selling gorgeous dresses of course. Let’s start with something glamorous – a treat for me, because I don’t normally get to do glamorous. Let’s talk about…. Drum roll please…. Trade Shows!!!
So, here I am, looking excited and wearing sensible shoes ready for all the walking up and down the aisles of beautiful dresses. This show was in Rome, lucky me! I went for the launch of Sincerity’s main collection, a long way to travel maybe and far too short a visit but seeing the dresses early means my order reaches my shop sooner. My brides LOVE Sincerity dresses and the new collection is fabulous!
The dresses are romantic, feminine, beautifully cut and finished with high-fashion styling such as cape details, side seam cut-aways and shoulder details. I ran out of budget before I’d bought all the dresses I wanted – stocking a bridal shop isn’t a cheap exercise but my brides are going to love these gowns! Lace is still an important decorative feature, as are illusion backs and the much-loved soft Boho look.
I even managed a quick tour of Rome before I left….
My other big project for April was a fashion show as part of Swadlincote Wedding Fair. First, model selection….
Lots of lovely, local ladies braved the cold and rain to come along to our casting evening. We’d have loved to have asked all of you to model, but we had to limit it to just ten ladies. Many fittings later (and much giggling and twirling in wedding dresses) show day dawned. The models were in hair and make-up bright and early (huge thanks to the stylists at M and N and Company, and Chloe Simone MUA and her team).
And then it was off to the Town Hall to rehearse. It takes a lot of nerve to walk in front of an audience, but the girls took it all in their stride!
I get the impression that Hayley enjoyed wearing this one… (image courtesy of Tunnel Vision Art and Photography)
It was a lot of fun – you can see more pictures and find a list of everyone who took part at the Swadlincote Wedding Fair Facebook page.
So, that was April. May is busy with fittings, sewing alterations, and prepping dresses ready for summer weddings. We’re also welcoming brides in the shop to choose their dresses, and looking out for the first delivery of new season gowns….
And OK, anyone who knows me, knows that I can’t for the life of me do glamorous. I admit it, you can take the Wedding Shop Lady out of Swadlincote but you can’t take the Swad out of the Wedding Shop Lady…..
