Hanging up my tape measure…

Well, I suppose it had to happen at some point! After 33 wonderful years and several thousand fabulous brides and bridesmaids it’s time for me to retire.

I started the business fresh from college, loving bridal and fashion and sewing. Originally I designed and made to measure wedding and bridesmaids dresses, helped by an army of talented seamstresses. Maybe some of you reading this had your dress made by me – in the Eighties and early Nineties it would have had bows, frills, silk roses, and probably huge sleeves ( I secretly still love those over the top bridal fashions!!)

As we got busier we started selling ready made dresses by fabulous UK designers, Margaret Lee were the first on our rails and we soon added Spanish and American labels. My dressmaking team and I have been kept busy with alterations and customisations… How many hems I wonder, how many extra beads??

And so, 33 years later, still loving bridal and fashion and sewing, it seems like the right time to retire. Otherwise I’ll still be pinning hems when I’m 80, and I’d never get my creaky knees back up off the floor!!!

Thank you to my wonderful staff, endlessly patient with me and the backbone of my business. And thank you to the fabulous thousands who trusted me with their wedding dresses, it’s been a privilege to look after you all!
